Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) who are the admissions authority for this academy. Annual admission to the academy for Year 7, each September, is organised through Walsall Local Authority. The Academy is responsible for our annual and mid-year appeals. Should your child not be allocated a place for Year 7 admission, September 2026 entry, you may choose to appeal the decision. Appeal applications should be made in writing using the Year 7 Appeal Form found below, paper copies can also be collected from our Main Reception. Once an appeal has been lodged, appellants will receive 10 working days’ notice of their appeal hearing date (although appellants can waive their rights to this).
All Mid-Year admission applications must be submitted directly to the academy. The Mid-Year admission form below needs to be completed and returned to [email protected]
Mid-Year appeals are made outside the normal round of admissions. If you have completed a Mid-Year admission form and have been added to our waiting list, and wish to appeal the decision, you should complete a Mid-Year appeal form (below) and return this to [email protected]
Your appeal will be heard within 30 school days of being lodged.
If the academy is oversubscribed, i.e., we have more applications than we have spaces in our academy, we will use the oversubscription criteria listed in the admissions policy for the relevant year, to allocate places. Where we are oversubscribed, we will maintain a waiting list. Please note, your child’s position on the waiting list may move up or down. The waiting list must be ranked in line with our admissions policy criteria and therefore the waiting list is re-ranked with each new mid-year admission request. We are delighted to welcome you all to our prospective Year 7 open evening.
Thursday 24th September 2026 – 17:00 – 20:00
You will have the opportunity to meet our dedicated staff and fantastic students. The evening is open to all parents, carers and children. We do not require you to book to attend the open evening.
Year Six Intake Evening & Transition Day
Tuesday 23rd June 2026 is the year six intake evening.
Wednesday 1st July 2026 is the year six transition day.
