Curriculum Intent

Our intention is that all students achieve the best possible outcomes by studying an appropriate curriculum, applying themselves in every lesson and by developing a clear understanding of why achievement matters to their future goals, aspirations, and destinations. Our dedication to develop the whole child enables our students to leave the academy proficient in the skills that are vital for everyday life.

Students are provided with opportunities which will inspire, challenge and motivate them, gaining access to a curriculum that enhances their academic and personal development, providing knowledge, understanding and skills so that they value education and understand that outcomes mean results and character.  Our curriculum is carefully designed and responsive to the needs of our students accounting for the community we serve.  Our curriculum allows students to deepen their knowledge by embedding regular review and recall opportunities; alongside explicit interleaving this builds firm foundations for progression to the next level.

Our core drivers of Outcomes, Values and Choices permeate through our academy and into everything we do.  Through rigour, simplicity, and a focus on achieving positive outcomes, combined with being values driven, we support our students in making the right choices and to have choices over their destinations.  Our academy learning journey gives a flavour of this in practice.

We educate our students to understand that ‘outcomes’ means academic attainment and progress, development of values and character and progression to their preferred destinations.

We develop our students to have the strength of character and courage to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Our values support our students to make the life choices that will have a positive impact on their future and contribution to society.

Being outcome focused and values driven, students take responsibility for their learning and actions which opens doors for them to have a breadth of choices when they leave school.
